Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT DOES ZENITH MEAN?

Zenith Counseling definition: The time at which something is most powerful or successful

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT IN AN APPOINTMENT?

With over 12 years of clinical experience working with diverse clientele, I pride myself in being client-centered and solution-oriented. I want my clients to feel heard and understood, which for some, has never been afforded. My goal in meeting a client for the first time is to allow them the opportunity to tell their unique story. I ask questions relevant to understanding their history and collect information that will be pertinent in identifying cycles and patterns that have either been inhibiting or self-destructive. At the end of the first session, I summarize what I heard the client share with me and collaborate on treatment goals with the client in order to achieve change. Throughout the course of treatment, I use empathy, humor, and relevant/relatable stories to create a safe space and honest dialogue. Clients are encouraged to ask difficult questions that will allow for introspection and elicit change.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE FAITH-BASED?

I am a faith-based counselor, and incorporate a Christian worldview into my sessions depending on the comfort level and only at the agreement of the client. As a Christian, I find that honest conversations about faith, Biblical principles, and a reliance on the Holy Trinity deepen the way we live and do life.  Because of my worldview and background, I take careful consideration in respecting each and every client’s choice to either discuss or not discuss belief systems/faith in treatment. I take pride in developing and cultivating a safe environment for all beliefs and do not discriminate based on diverse views. Rather, I encourage open mindsets and honest dialogue.

ARE THERE RISKS TO THERAPY?

Because therapy is change-oriented, there are risks to consider.  I will explore and discuss past and present matters that are pertinent to treatment and as a result, feelings and emotions will arise that can cause emotional discomfort. At times, therapy can be confrontational in order to assist with recognizing discrepancies. The goal of this is to successfully exchange unhealthy actions and behaviors for healthy ones.  I will also do my best to educate you on potential risks associated with discussing trauma and if at any time this causes distress, you will be empowered to defer discussing the event. Addressing trauma is a collaborative effort, and the implementation of healthy coping and grounding skills is essential for optimal results.

HOW MUCH DOES THERAPY COST AND DO YOU ACCEPT INSURANCE?

Each session is 45-60 minutes in duration and payment will be collected prior to the beginning of the session via cash, credit card, or personal check. For clients that are self-pay, the full amount of $175.00 will be collected. I am in network with most major insurance companies if you choose to go through your employer’s benefits/ insurance company.

IS THERAPY CONFIDENTIAL?

All client records are confidential and part of an electronic health document according to HIPAA regulations. Due to the sensitivity of content discussed in session, clinical records are kept and maintained in compliance with state and insurance guidelines. Some clients choose to not want clinical diagnosis or clinical content shared/provided to insurance companies, and therefore choose to pay out of pocket rates as a result. To further discuss out of pocket rates, see below.
